2019 H&L Fiano
#1 Fiano in Australia
The Real Review
“Rockmelon and kiwifruit, lemon flesh tapers the finish, along with a faint almond nuttiness. It’s a terrific wine. Saline freshness in concert with natural acidity.”

2012 38 Days Cab/Shiraz
95 Points Gold
Halliday Wine Companion
“The focus is on a cool-ferment and post-ferment maceration for 38 days. Fine tannins, leaving the juicy black currant and blackberry fruits ample opportunity to play tag with each other.”

2017 H&L Shiraz
4 1⁄2 Stars
Winestate
“Powerful earthy nose but also has plenty of ripe berry aromas. Nice palate, well balanced and offering a rich ripe mouthful of flavour with strong tannin backbone.”

2016 H&L Barbera
Hot 100 Wines
The Adelaide Review
“Sweet liquorice and spicy fruits dominate. There is a hint of char but it remains plush throughout the ride. Enjoy.”

Wine Critic Reviews
Whilst we love our wines, it’s always rewarding to hear what the wine writers, judges and critics say. These wine reviews give us great confidence in our grape growing and winemaking. When we hear that our Fiano “… has just a little bit of attitude, good attitude, with the crunch to complement,” or “This little beauty certainly has the ‘yum’ factor and check out the price!” we know we’re on a good thing.

It displays loads of dark berry fruit with notes of oaky vanilla and even dark chocolate. Smooth tannic astringency is nicely integrated and leads to a moreish and lengthy finish. One to try with hearty main courses.92/100 Points from Martin Field read less

Hints of sweet nectarine stone fruit and hazelnut with an almond croissant richer doughy nutty character, counterpointed by grapefruit skin. The palate belies the nose: textural and puckering, offering austerity of grapefruit citrus with an intense tight, drawn conclusion. Crying out for food pairing: fleshy white fish is a no-brainer. read less

This is a dry white that has retained its natural acidity and texture and suits a range of lighter dishes. “It’s a taut wine made to get the taste buds working,” says the media release. I whole heartedly agree. read less

2019 H&L Fiano There's some swagger about the way it carries itself, that's for sure. But there's a texture about it that runs deep. Stonefruit, quince and whispers of honey tones.

Initially deep and dark, before the onset of lighter and brighter fruit sitting at its core. It's boysenberry, perhaps a suggestion of raspberry in the frame too. I'd paired this with some kebabs that we'd liberally introduced to some oregano, so that herbal - and Mediterranean - association ran long. The tannin feels a little gruff, almost ferrous; the wine itself carrying an air, a lightness as it springs across the palate. read less

H&L's Customer Reviews

We hadn't heard of this winery before but thought we would take a look. I knew I would love the experience the moment I walked in as the friendly guy spent so much time with us, talking about the history of the winery, the evolution of the types of wine made and the family business. The extremely affordable flight was more like a masterclass as we were taken through each wine in great detail, not to mention the fact that the wines were delicious. All in all a wonderful experience with a knowledgeable and passionate staff member that made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend a visit.
