Description

Tempranillo is one of the wines of our Mediterranean collection. We started the planting in 2000 and now have 6 varieties with their origins in Italy or Spain. They are varieties well-suited to the growing conditions of McLaren Vale and deliver the bright fruit flavours of the Southern European climate.

Some say Tempranillo is the future of McLaren Vale. It particularly loves the environment of the Hastwell & Lightfoot hill side deep sand blocks, producing fruit that expresses the true character of the variety. Our 3 acres planted in the Millennium year was one of the first in the region and the vines now produce the flavours that only maturity can give.

An intense and generous wine, with ripe black cherries and autumn leaves leading to a palate with firm tannins and solid structure. The foods of the Iberian Peninsula are the perfect partners; from pork belly to paella, then of course the wonderment of tapas – A wine made for eating.
